Development Programme

Since the ‘new’ school opened in 1980, the Loreto school community has been constantly seeking and delivering ways to improve its facilities. Of these our most significant developments have been:

Extension with six classrooms and one science laboratory (1995)
Astro-turf Hockey Pitch (2005)
Mary Ward Building (2013) – main school extension with fifteen teaching spaces and new administration area.
Refurbishment of existing school building (2013).

Re-configuration of canteen with additional space – completed 2016.
Refurbishment of staffroom – completed 2016.
Special Needs Unit – completed 2017.
Assembly/Examinations/Study Hall and extended lunch area – planned completion 2017.

In 2019 we demonstrated our commitment to the care of the environment by successfully applying for a sustainable energy grant which saw the installation of solar panels, superior insulation and new windows to make our building as energy efficient as possible.

In September 2025 we opened our first ASD class which involved the refurbishment of an existing classroom.

A further extension is planned for 2027 to enhance our Special Education Needs provision. This development will also include a Design, Communication and Graphics lab, a Home Economics room, a state-of-the-art Science lab and several general classrooms.
