In keeping with the Loreto Educational Philosophy, we ‘promote excellence appropriate to each student’. A culture of high expectations is identified by all international research as a key component of successful schools. Our academic achievements in the State Examinations provide further proof that this is the case. Each year, in the State Examinations, our results far surpass national averages in terms of the numbers of students taking examinations at the Higher Level and the achievement of high grades in all subjects. A high percentage of our students progress to Degree level courses. In 2013 (figures not yet available for 2014), 59% of our graduates progressed to one of the seven Universities or teacher training colleges. Our performance in this regard is consistently high, and we have been in the top ten schools in Leinster for the past four years. Our 2014 Leaving Certificate results maintained these consistently high standards. 27% of the year group were awarded equal or greater than 500 C.A.O. points, almost three times the national average! Similarly, more than three times the national average achieved more than 550 two times the national average exceeded 400 points. 54% of our Leaving Cert. students got the ‘honours’ Maths bonus points. This is double the national average. Our class of 2015 continued this trend with and incredible 32% acieving 500 points or more! Our 2014 Junior Certificate class brought in a huge haul of ‘A’ grades. Three of our students were awarded 11 ‘A’ grades each, while our top ten performers were awarded 80 ‘A’ grades between them!
